"Deep ruby in colour, this set the stage with warm, toasted fruitcake on the nose, iodine and vanilla ream. T he palate curves on dark fruit, chocolate cherry liqueur and delicate citrus. There is something vaguely reminiscent of black forest gateau here, a warmth and layered complexity. The finish is long but in these early stages somewhat marked by oak. Achaval Ferrer was founded by a group of Argentinian and Italian friends who loved wine and were determined to produce something outstanding – an aim encouraged by celebrated Italian oenologist Roberto Cipresso, one of the founding team.
