Our Timeline
Our Experience
C&B Heritage
In 1780, Edward Bland Corney opened his shop on London’s Old Broad Street, offering a small selection of port, sherry and Bordeaux. The business flourished, and in 1838, his son, Thomas introduced his cousin Robert Barrow to the trade. The Corney & Barrow name was born. Today, our offices have grown to the north of England, Scotland, Hong Kong and Singapore, and have expanded into every sector of the market. We became the first traditional wine merchant to establish a wine broking operation and our merchant business is growing every day. Still privately owned, 75% of our portfolio is exclusive to us – a testament to the dedication of our relationships. Our range has grown to include the highest quality wines, from everyday drinking to the heights of Petrus and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. We insist on excellence in everything we do, just as Messrs Corney & Barrow would have done.
Royal Warrants
Corney & Barrow’s Royal Warrants date back to George V in 1912, when they were first introduced. Royal Warrants are a mark of recognition to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to the Royal family. Corney & Barrow currently holds two Royal Warrants, as suppliers to HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Prince of Wales. We are the only wine company to have held three Royal Warrants concurrently, as suppliers to HM Queen Elizabeth II, HRH The Prince of Wales and, formerly, the late HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. As Warrant holders we may display the relevant Royal Arms and the legend ‘By Appointment’ on products, premises, stationery, vehicles and advertising. Our Wine
Corney & Barrow aims to offer carefully-selected, honestly-priced wines that not only deliver quality and value for money, but also a sense of place. Where possible, we aim to build exclusive relationships with our suppliers, making our range of wines unique. We want to offer benchmark styles; wines which we believe to be the best examples of a wine style, country, region or sub-region, whether they are wines to drink immediately or wines to lay down. Our range of Own Label wines are blended by some of our top producers, offering a top-quality wine without the high-end price-tag.
