Espérance de Trotanoy, younger sibling to Château Trotanoy, made its debut in 2009. The product of younger vines, it bears the hallmark of Trotanoy – the power and intensity – but is more approachable in youth.Château Trotanoy is a jewel amongst the rarefied properties of Pomerol. The name “Trotanoy” invokes the hardships of working a tough clay-based soil – trop ennui (too much trouble) – slithery and awkward when wet and almost impenetrable when baked dry. No smoke without fire however as the wines are breathtaking
"Black cherry and fine smokiness on the nose, with quite beautiful violet perfume. With more time in the glass, the aromas become more red-fruited and open - very 2015, very accessible. Finely textured on the fore-palate, with charming soft, silkily giving blackcurrant fruit, offset by a detailed tannic framework. You feel this gives a glimpse of what the grand vin might achieve in the future. A showstopper!
