Champ de Cour is a south-east facing site, planted with 50+ year-old vines on granite soils, with pebbles under thick, dense clay. Dried herbs and deft exotic spices on the nose. The palate’s cool raspberry fruit is underscored by dark, rocky minerality, with black pepper and a savoury, sous bois herbaceousness. Substantial, but rendered so elegantly. A third whole bunch vinified in 2019, then aged in 600 litre old oak demi-muids for 15 months.

This is the other original plot of the domaine. It sits opposite to the Sous Rouche lieu-dit, facing east, under the village of Saint-Romain Le Haut. The vines are planted on limestone. The holding of the Buisson is 2ha out of a total of 2.5ha. For Franck Buisson, it is the flag bearer of Saint-Romain appellation. The palate is sharp, complex, intense and mineral. Citrus aromas abound. The wine has texture, it begs for another glass, you salivate from the first sip. I liked it a lot.
