Now famous for its white wine, Santenay is a large appellation which was held in very high esteem in the 19th Century for producing some of the best red and white wines of Burgundy. This is not surprising when you see the diversity of soils and subsoils surrounding the village. The Labruyère-Prieur vines are 67-year-old and low yielding. 30% of the harvest is vinified as whole bunches and the wine sees no more than 20% of new oak. The result is a wine of elegance, with soft tannins, ripe red fruits aromas and a sappy finish.
